Default New member from Canada (Building 200 mph Neon)

I am addicted to building cars. I started with my 2004 Neon SRT-4 which has become a landspeed racer with a 67mm turbo. Half way through the build, I got bored and bought a 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 which is right wheel drive instead of wrong wheel drive like the Neon. The truck runs 12's after a few mods but it was just too slow and not good looking enough for me. I decided to build a completely custom car which started as a 1929 Willys Whippet Coupe, which was turned into a roadster. I fabricated my own frame from scratch and installed a SRT-4 engine and transaxle in the rear in the trunk to make it mid engine and RWD. I joined this forum to get into a more freindly high hp 4 cylinder community. Here are a few pictures of my rides.

    And the most fun one.
Here is how the Willys was born.

    Take a totaled 2004 SRT-4 Neon

Give me 4 hours with a chop saw to make this

Cut off what I don't want

    Throw the rest away!

Take a 1929 Willys Whippet Coupe

    Remove what you don't want

    Go for a drive!

Then load it all up and bring it from my parents farm to my house

Trim off all sheet metal from the front end of the neon

    Make it all fit inside!

    Build a frame

    Add the body

Make the back half flip up because if looks cool

    Try some Volkswagen seats

    Go for a drive

Realize they are too wide and build your own seats.

Add a mustang 2 front end

Add a fuel cell and radiator

Add pedals and build a floor

    Add stearing

Realize it won't be fast enough for you and bolt on a Stage 3 Turbo kit to the engine. Picture is stock one being removed.

Very bad ass! Keep us up to date on the build. I've got a '32 Ford with an Evolution engine in it, my brother has a '41 AWD Willy's with a full Evolution driveline in it.

You, my friend, are very creative. I love it! Like the others have already said, I look forward to seeing some more progress. Good luck!

Did a few things over the weekend to the neon.

Installed the DCR rear suspension struts.

Mounted the racing seat and decided the steering wheel was too high even at it's lowest setting so I took out the stock mount and mocked it up to start a custom frame to hold it. Also set the gauge cluster in place in preperation for the new aluminum skinned dash I will be making.
