i hate to say it but even with a medioce driver the ctsv should walk a basically stock evo...if your car was extremely light, you had badass tires that hooked, and you were a great drag racer you might come close but at your power level and the car being close to stock id still race him without having hopes of winning

CTS-V will get traction, even on the street. The ECU will pull the stiffness out of the shocks via the magnetic suspension so that it will weight transfer putting much of the weight on the back tires. It will get traction. I have no problems with traction on the street in my E55 which does something very similar.

I never said I was going to race him. It was just an idea of my boss. I just wanted to know if it was safe to launch it by dumping the clutch instead of slipping a little then dumping it so I could practice it if I was going to race him. I just told my boss that I don't want to do it bc I don't want to risk breaking anything right after I bought it. The extra money sounded great at first but even if I did win and I broke something it wouldn't be enough if it's a costly fix (which there's no cheap fixes for evo's lol). Thanks everyone for your input! It really helps. I'll just stick to enjoying my new toy

What ever you decide to do, I donŽt think dumping the clutch will net you the best launch technique. It will just put your tranny/drivetrain through unnecesary shock that can result in damage, independant of power level. Try watching some videos of the fastest Evos and youŽll see every good driver slips the clutch to some extent, they even preload the clutch (has to be twin disc at least) for best launching technique. Good luck, and enjoy your car the safe way. HereŽs a link to preloading the clutch:

Thanks for the link. A lot of good info. I wont be doing that just yet bc I have a single disk act in it now. After I do some mods it'll have a twin disk but thanks again for the info!
