Default 2G Gets a New Fuel Tank

Well since the rail is about winterized, it's time for a long awaited 2G fuel system upgrade.

    Plans are:

Get rid of the 2 section stock tank with the in-tank fuel pump set-up and replace it with a 12 gallon tank from Frontline Fabrications, little did I know it would take SIX months to have my order filled.

While I was ordering parts I added his drive shaft safety loop and a rear end diff cover.

The tank comes with AN -10 supply and -8 return line fittings, vent tube with check valve in case of a roll over.....God I hope I never use this feature!

The stock tank has two fuel level sensors in it, so I found out a FWD 2G only has one level sensor that has the same ohm scale as the two for the AWD tank, so I found one of them, now I can keep my stock fuel level gauge and it should work like.............. well a stock fuel gauge.

Another nice feature is the new tank will use the factory filler neck!

I'll install an Aeromotive Eliminator fuel pump to push the stuff through the -10 hose and into the injectors then -8 for return.
Aeromotive fuel pump speed control is going in for tame city driving and longer pump life.

Two fuel filters will be installed, one before the pump another ahead of the fuel rail.

The forever to get fuel tank:

Get the Talon to Dave and let him do a dyno retune with the improved fuel system!

Thinking of installing the rear sub-frame set-up magus offers. Still on the fence about that one!

Best run 5.47@124 and everything is dialed in for next spring.

Marco said it takes 4 weeks to build, damn, another wait it out scenario!

Oh well, going to pull the sagging head liner out of the 1G today and replace it before the 2G dismantling begins.

Picked up 2 yards of head liner material, same color as the stock material and some spray on glue for $33, I'll get this liner in the 1G this weekend!

Very nice tank, I didn't know anyone offered something like that. I am planning to make a small bolt in tank for the 1g that uses our twin pumps.

Do you want to do a 2g that can use a twin pump set up? Frontlines is not able to use twin pumps and you have to use a FWD sender to have the stock fuel guage work. Both add cost to a nice unit. Need a unit to use all 2g stuff. If I had to run a external pump and a different sender might as wll just do a cheap fuel cell.

Also JMF has a 1g one also. But the JMF has a bad placement of being on the drivers side rear. It needs moved a little to help with corner weight I think.
Do you own a EVO? No I do not. Then what the hell are you doing here!

Did not like the color the fuel rail came in, so I removed the anodized red and polished the aluminum to a bright finish.
Next step is to bake some clear coat on it.

I'd like to leave the tank on the drivers side for the 1g, it makes getting to the rear end easier. I'll take a look though and see what we come up with, centered is better. I remember way back in the day, I cut the stock tank in half on my 1g and then welded a flat plate to it, gave me like 7.5 gallons and cut the tank size in half!

Project looks fantastic as always Tom.
