Thread: My Eagle Summit AWD project

Default My Eagle Summit AWD project

I wanted to swap a 4G63 into one of these fans since the late 90's. I finally found a worthy candidate in '08. I drove this wagon for 2 years, did some minor mods (EVO8 suspension, EVO3 radiator), but finally my clutch let go and I started the swap project. It took 18 month of on a off work, but I am finally done!

    The mods:

    Race block with forged pisons/rods
    Rebuilt heads w/HKS 272 cams
    BR 1G CAI
    Magnus Intake
Switzer/BR COP ignition (from way back in the day!)
2G DSM ECU with V3 ECM Link (running SD)
1G IRC race core FMIC with custom plumbing
Summit 5sp tranny with 4 spider center diff and DSM viscous coupling.
DSM ACT 2600 w/street disc and ACT FW

There were a ton of other other mods to make it all work

For now, I am runing 14b turbo and pump gas. Which gave me best et of 12.44 @106.6

But now, I need to improve on EVO8 suspension. I will start with camber plates and go from there. I would love to find an upgraded rear sway bar, but that is a long shot.

It should be at 20th Shootout running a bit faster .

Some latest photos after a winter of "fine-tuning" upgrades:

New stance, about 1" lower than before.

Newly cut front bumper cover showing the only hint something is going here .

    EVO8 Tein camber plates.

Engine bay. Pretty standard DSM "go fast goodies". Upgrades include:

    7cm^2 exhaust housing
    Ported exhaust parts
    38mm WG
    Tubular O2 housing
    New WB

I finally had a chance to take a long lunch and go to Granite State Dyno in Kingston NH.

This is 14b, starting at 27psi and quickly dropping to 13psi.

The van pulled 265hp off the street
    Then 292hp with open exhaust
Lastly 303hp changing pump gas with 110 octane race fuel

I probably could have gotten another 10 hp from more tuning, but I had to get back to the office.
