Default Finally cracked the 150 MPH mark

The Mighty Max Pickup Truck finally went 150 MPH (150.850 MPH) in the Mile at the Maxton N.C. Landspeed Racing Event.

Thank you David for that awesome tuneup.

Congrats! I'm very happy for you. I hope you stick with it long enough we can see 200 at Bonneville with it. It's tough, as I told you, I keep sneaking up on the tune in the truck as I don't have any idea what kind of power it will all take.

For those of you that don't know, the engine is a 2.4 liter built elsewhere, the head is a SOHC done by Dan Paramore. The intake manifold and throttle body are OEM and the i/c pipe runs into the top of it all.

We built a nice FMIC, radiator and turbo kit for it. It's got a 6262 on it now. I have been slowly sneaking up on more and more power, most guys would rather get a little faster each time and not break than go out and blow up with big power. That's how this project has been treated, a little more power each time and the truck has consistently moved up and continued to break it's last record.

Bonneville next year, I want to go!! See how close to 200 we can get it!

The bottom end is a 4g64, stock crank, balanced with Eagle h-beam rods, Arias 10:1 pistons (engineered by Nick Arias III) with gapless top rings, ARP main studs. The intake was also modified by Dan Paramore.

Yeah, having some nice concrete should improve the speeds, The 60 year old Maxton concrete with patches isn't the best surface.

It would be nice if they'd loosen up on the rules a bit for some street cars to run in Ohio. I'll have to go now that it's so close to just watch.

They do have a Street Category which is ECTA Only. and a Time Only Class for under 135 MPH, No Roll Bar, No Fire system, No Toe Strap on Accelerator, Factory Seat Belts (3 Point). No Convertibles, or Plastic Body Cars. you get a 5 MPH cushion before having to do alll the Safety Stuff.

Of Course, your cars would require Driver restraint to keep from exceeding the 135 MPH limits

Haha, driver restraint is an understatement! 160 in the 1/4 I'd hope would mean 200 at the finish.......

I know when we went down with Matt's car a few years ago we thought for sure he'd be good to go. Full NHRA legal cage etc., the list of stuff they told us he still needed for 200 mph was a full 8"x10" sheet of paper.

The list is long, with extra stuff for over 200. takes 3 inspectors sign off for over 200MPH.

link is to the inspection form they use, the letters and numbers on the left side is the Rule book section with the full text for easy reference,

Mike, Not sure if you're interested. I know someone that is selling a sheetmetal intake for that head, pretty sure it's for that head anyway. If you're interested shoot me an e-mail. Will probably need a pic of the head flange. ron @ shearerfabrications.com

I meant to ask you last time, are you not allowed to change to the DOHC head in the class rules?

Since I'm Running Modified I can change to the DOHC Head, problem is, I've put so much into this head, Porting, Valves, Cam, Intake and Exhaust Manifolds, I'd almost rather do another Truck!
