The problem is "race tire" in this case, for Max Effort, is more geared towards the autocross side of the class. I had the rules at 100 tread wear originally but some of the experts in autocross told me that doing that was a bit ridiculous. The reason they gave me was street tires have come so far that the time difference between a DOT Street tire with 100 tread wear rating and an actual slick was very minimal. The suggestion from the experts were to cut the street tires off at 140 so the guys with a REAL street tire didn't have to compete against the near-slick-performance of the 100 tread wear tires like the Nitto NT01's and AD08's. I then did a bit of research on it and paid close attention when I was racing at Mid Ohio and definitely agreed and changed it back to the 140 that it was last year.

I did some research and also found that 140 is the new 100

What does this mean? Your old 100 tires are now obsolete and there are now a bunch 140 tires, which are just as good, if not better than the old 100, only they are considered "street tires"

Chacing trends like this forces you to keep buying new tires. Not a big deal if you are a hard core racer and go throu a set of tires every season, but a bigger deal for those who keep the same tires for many years (probably not a good practice anyway).

Basically, if anyone wants to be competitive in AutoX, you should get one of those new 140 tires. And you can add Toyo R1R tires to that list.

Yes, I'd agree with what you just said, 140 is the new 100 and the 100's are the new damn-near-race tires. I also agree, if you are keeping your tires for years then real performance isn't your goal anyway, so the tire wear is moot.

I just think without making the payout larger for the class, making more rounds of racing isn't a good idea.
I am just busting your balls! I also get that there are still only 3 qualifiers. Just more time to make passes with 2 track days. Well I am not happy change the damn race LOL!! Looking forward to another great shootout!
Do you own a EVO? No I do not. Then what the hell are you doing here!

Default Special hotel rates at Motel 6

I got a call today from the manager of Motel 6. They want their entire hotel booked with Shootout participants!! She has offered special rates for you guys and here they are:

    16th, $46.74
    17th and 18th, $80.74
    19th, $38.24

These rates do not include tax. I think it's pretty outstanding that they called and want the hotel booked. This hotel is in Milan, about 6 miles north of Norwalk.

That's hard to believe Trevor, the entire hotel is reserved for us already, you have to call and mention you want a room for the Buschur Race.

The first time I called, I followed the phone prompts and pressed option 3 for future reservations. Apparently that transfers to some National reservation line and all the rooms show booked there. I called back just now and pressed 0 instead and after about 10 minutes the lady found the blocked off rooms for the event and I was able to book the rooms.

Just got our 4 rooms booked, make sure that you hit option 0 to get to the front desk. If you get the main call center they will show no rooms available. I got rooms for 3 nights for $249.73 with taxes and fees. That is cheaper than we paid there last year!!!!
