There you have it! Set in STONE! The dates are finalized as of today.

BIG changes for the 20th Annual Shootout!

Dyno day is Friday at our shop, streets will be closed down like in past years. Dyno Kings awarded for Stock Appearing turbo and Big Turbo classes.

Saturday will be held on the pit side of the track, just like our normal drag day. This year you can get in early for the autocross and Max Effort competition. Max Effort will also make all three of their drag runs on Saturday. This will allow these guys to compete in another class (additional tech card required) Sunday if they want to. ALL heads up classes will get their first qualifier on Saturday evening. This will give you all time to make adjustments or repairs if needed. This also gives us a chance to slow the pace down on Sunday! Time trials are available Saturday too.

OVERNIGHT camping will be encouraged! Vendors/racers/sponsors can set up Saturday and leave their cars/displays/trailers at the track until the event is completed Sunday evening! If there is enough interest we can have a big bon fire Saturday night at the track and make it a real party!

Sunday the gates open at 9 am. Heads up classes will get there number 2 and 3 qualifiers on Sunday. Brackets and Time Trials will also run on Sunday.

Give me your feedback this is a HUGE change and should just make for an absolutely kick ass weekend!!

AWESOME!!! My only suggestion is for Max Effort. How do you feel about adding the reaction time (pro tree) to the ET of the run to make it more effort?

I don't care about the reaction times Trevor, they make no difference in ET, I understand what you are trying to do but....

Please let your friends know about the link and send them this way.

I like the changes, and being able to run Max Effort Saturday plus a Drag Racing only class on Sunday is awesome! I'm also kind of glad you dumped the race tire classes since few wanted to bring them this year. Anything you can do to add some medium speed elements into the Auto-x will be much appreciated since the super tight Miata style courses can be aggravating at times!

We will definitely be there again next year. I should be bringing a bigger group for this one. Also I won't have to leave to go home sat night again. We'll see where all the projects are at when the time comes. Should have at least one of them done.I pumped already for this event.

I guess I'm not picky, if I can race I am happy, tight course, fast course whatever. It all brings the driver out. The course for 2012 will be a standard sized autocross course. I was offered, actually, to use the side of the track we used this time PLUS the entire 1/4 mile for a LONG fast straight. I declined, it's not a road course and I can't imagine the mess from someone wrecking after a 1/2 mile straight! I told Bill, the track owner, my RS would be going about 180 mph, he said, "So?". hahaha The course will be faster and longer.

This event will NEVER turn into a freak show. Drifting, lifestyle kind of crap, bands and such were brought up. This is a racers race, not the bullshit that NHRA and NOPI thought racing should be.

I am looking forward to the hangout/camping at the track.

Wow, it is even better than last year! I love the option to run on Saturday night!

One quick point, if someone is DQ'ed in peer tech, can we have alternates to take their spot? This would prevent #17 and #18 from being screwed out of racing AND it would reduce the number of "by runs" in he first round.

Can someone run max effort AND one of the drag classed if pay for them? Or... If you can't get enough of racing, could one run:

    AutoX class
    Max effort
    And a drag class

It appears that it would be feasable!

Wow, I didnt think that it could ever get THIS awesome!!!, I cant imagine how terrific this event is going to be for all of us, I thank you in advance Buschur racing and all involved for all of the thought that you are putting into this, you probably have no idea how much this event has always meant to me (us) and just how very much it is appreciated. As always if I can do anything at all to take on some of the responsibility and share some of the burdon at all, just mention it, as it will be an honor.

I agree that using the entire 1/4 mile strip would be crazy for a road course type setup, and yes you would be at 180 mph before hitting the binders, but what if those brakes failed!?! As long as there is more than just tight slaloms, people will be happy with the auto-x layout. Basically some places to get in the boost sideways a bit and use the power for more than 2 seconds would be cool, there can be some tight stuff thrown in as well to slow people down before the finish or when getting closer to spectators. Faster sections aren't really any more dangerous if the braking is done in a straight line and there is run off area and time to recover.

Likely we'll have quite a bit more entries but with the format we can still easily get all the runs in. I think a big bonfire would be pretty wild, the NHRA/NOPI lifestyle bs is silly as well, let teh format remain racing and hanging out with people that have the same interests.

Good call!!! I also liked how you made autox organizers slow down this year's course, at the very end! Autox is about SAFE racing, the idea is that it is almost impossible to hurt you or your car. This was always a problem with the old courses (99-04), they were too fast! Speed wise this year's cource was fine. If you want to improve it, add about 15-20 seconds of similar track. But I am not sure if there is space for it.

Full size autocross? Drag racing options? Bonfires? Dyno competition? 3 day weekend? Sounds like it's going to be great! I'll trailer the EVO & run it nxt year. DSport should devote an entire mag to this one considering the Shootout has been around for 20 yrs. Count me in.
