Default AEM EMS Series 2 -- Installed

    Car:
    06 STI
    VF39
    APS FMIC
    APS 70mm Intake
    PE 850cc
    -6an fuel lines
    3" TBE

Full Mod list coming in Cal Post.

    Guess what showed up today....

    AEM EMS Series 2.

Tomorrow I put it in the car. Ran out of time tonight .

I got the EMS installed and running yesterday. The part that took the longest for me pulling the0-5v output from the AEM WB over to the ECU.

I process of installing the AEM EMS takes about 15min tops, Pull the molding off, pull the carpet back, remove the ECU cover, uhook the stock ecu, put the 0-5v WB into pin #5, plug in the AEM EMS, turn the car to acc set the ETC, cycle the ignition, and and update the firmware, then upload the cal file, then just change what ever sensors, injectors ect.

When I fired the car it cranked about 4-5 times and fired right up. We then cleaned up the AFR at idel a little bit, got it into the 14.5 range and then we set the base ignition timing.

I am using the Stock MAP, and MAF(contains AIT sensor) sensors. So this was as plug and play as they come.

Over all I am very impressed. The Series 2 is soooo much nicer than the Series 1's that I have had. Anyhow I should have some cals up pretty soon here, working on the 91oct tune. I also shot some video and photos of the install. Once I have some time to edit it I will post it up.

    Quick question..

I understand you can do pretty much anything you want with AEM EMS, but aren't the stock ECU's extremely configurable?

What would be the advantage of spending this much money on the AEM, when you can fully tune with COBB Accessport? (With the appropriate software, or course.)

Not trying to say you're dumb, or something like that, I just don't fully understand.

    No worries.

For me I dont like dealing with the stock ECU's. I have worked on both the Evo and STI stock ecus. For me it is 100000% easier for me to opperate an AEM EMS than it is to flash the stock ones. So as with anything you use the tools you are most comfortable with.

If you like to tune on the stock ecu stick with it. I can tune an ems, so I can save all the cost of tuning, making it worth spending the money on an AEM EMS.

Thanks for the clarification. I just wasn't sure if there was something more to be opened up with AEM over the stock ECU. Just wondering!
