Default 32psi on Stock long block -- looking for people who do it

So I am on a 100% stock long block. I am running e85 and I am currently at 28psi. I want to get into the 120+ trap speeds on the stock 9 turbo, currently 12.03@117.33. I am at about 380hp/380tq, Virtual Dyno on Mustang Dyno Setting.

So I would like to if people are pushing the boost that far on stock head studs.

On evom everyone is like hell now, however I am tired of all the keyboard cowboys. I will more than likley turn the boost up, just figure I would see if I am the only one.

I am currently using 100% stock long block on my car with the exception of ARP headstuds and Kelford 272 cams (yes, stock valve springs). Oil pan has never been off. 32lbs and trapping 132MPH. Probably over 300 WOT pulls this way. Car made 542WHP/466WTQ.

As far as head studs, I would definitely upgrade to some ARP's. I'm sure the stock bolts will handle 32lbs on your stock turbo, but who knows for how long.

the stock head seal from factory is extremely strong.. ive ran my fp red to 37psi on stock studs before on stock block before i went to a built engine. it held up fine.. you should be fine on stock studs and HG seal from mitsu as long as the tunes detonation free and very clean.

I would upgrade to ARP's its cheap precaution that can save you a ass load of money down the road...I upgraded to a FR Red and Dave recommended me throwing in some ARP's to be safe...Big power aint shit if you blow it up...

On my car I try to tune to a mild knock cal. I dont run the car on a razors edge all the time. So for the 1/4mile I would like to get to about 32psi, and for daily run 26-28psi. I have the rods and pistons, just need to get a few more things. I will be pulling the block to do a full build some time this year.

at the end of the day all that matters is if you properly have the voltage ranged out so you can see spikes that indicate knock.. i think given your history you should be fine with 32psi. again i dont think studs are necessary at all.. you can try the 1x1 method if you really want to, but if its not done just right, you will blow the hg anyways, or it will leak causing it to need to be replaced.

i went 11.64@ 118 with the stock turbo, stock cams on my IX at 29.5psi, it made 426/420tq on the shops dyno dynamics last year.

this year i added an FP anti surge 84mm cover and a shearer fab o2 dump and made 372whp/403tq @32-33psi on a dynapack dyno.. i'm hoping for a 122-123mph trap speed

the ported cover and the o2 housing helped out big time up top and it doesn't die off as bad. i'm pretty sure 122 will be deffinatley doable with the power the car made and what will also help me is i have the nitto 245/45/17 DR's (26.2in tall tire) to aid with the short IX 4th

So I turned up the boost from 28 to 31.5, and saw almost no gain in power or torque. So I played with timing a little, and still gained no power at all. I think I picked up 10whp and 10tq over 28psi. So I think I am about maxed out at 28psi for my setup. It is more than likley time for intercooler and cams.

You can run more boost but its not going to even do much for you in the 1/4 mile, it simply won't hit higher because of the size of the turbo. If you want to go faster get stuff to help ya go faster and work the tune more.

You could get a aftermarket IC, ported stock exhaust manifold, ported intake manifold, 65mm TB, and cams.

As far as studs go they are pretty strong stock and I wouldn't be concerned about running more then 30lbs on bigger turbos like the black or 35r.

Ya the car just hit a wall as far as power. So I am going to focus on things that make the most sense. The car is setup as a road racing car, that hits the 1/4 mile. So for road racing the boost gets turned down to 22psi.

I am not sure of the order I am going to get things yet, but here are the parts I am looking at.

    Kelford 272 or GSC S2
    Kiggly Springs and Retainers
    Larger FMIC
    Ported Intake Manifold
    Ported Exhaust Manifold
    Full Blown Throttle Body
Coil Over Plug with CDI - Already have from my galant

Now that does not include all the suspension upgrades I need to do. I am really looking at those Ohlins coils for the evo. I also still need to source a few more parts for the engine build, I want to build the motor before I put a rod through the block and have to buy a new block.

I'd definitely go with GSC s2's over kelford 272's.

I ran 33psi on stock longblock(with ARP's) and some hks 272's on a old school journal bearing t67 trapping 127 for a year until I finally had the money to build it

I see the problem, there is a SERIOUS lack of BR parts on that EVO!

Once I blow up the motor, I want to do a BR2.3RPM up in there. Right now I am running 32psi, and on VDR the car is at 448/460. I am doing some ported parts, and then some cams, and I am going to try to hit the 500hp mark.

In my opinion, movie "Fast and Furious 2" is a good guide for your passion. It has a solid information on these gadgets.

Amazing specifications. I guess you are very much involved in racing. I advice you to be careful while driving.
