**I will add the drag information from Sunday when I get it back from the track.
Well it was a great weekend, hot and humid. Many thanks to Motovicity, DSport Magazine and the IDRC for getting on board with the event for the second year in a row.
Watch for many great cars to be featured in the next few months that were shot at this race and for some wicked DVD coverage of the entire weekend and race event.
This was the first year we moved the entire event out to the race track. In the past the dyno day at our shop on Saturday, for the Sport Compact race, has been a light turn out.
From the looks of the autocross and all the talk about it after it was over, this event will continue to grow and grow.
There were three classes total set up to run. Street tire, Race tire and a Kart class.
Before the event there was talk about the event being set up to cater to the EVO's and make sure they were the only cars that won. I didn't feel that was all the case and judging by the results, I was correct as there wasn't even a Mitsubishi of any type that placed. Tires are what connect you to the road and I feel this class structure is easy, optimal and will remain in effect until for some reason it proves to not work.
The course was set up in a large U shaped pattern on wide roadways. We had two guys come in, take one look at the pavement we had to work with and leave..........definitely their loss. The course was a complete blast to run and the guys from NORA did an exceptional job of setting it up and running the event. They are true professionals. Speeds at the finish line were approaching 100 mph in my RS!!
Here are the results from the Autocross:
