Buschur Racing powered Talon competes in it's 3rd 24 hour race.
Another huge congrats to the rbanksracing.com team for completing their THIRD 24 hour of Lemons race with the "Talonator".
In 2010 I was approached to help out the team by building an engine for their 1990 Eagle Talon TSi. This is of course a 4g63 turbocharged engine, what we've built our reputation on for the last 22 years.
They won their first 24 hour of Lemons race at Nelson Ledges by a considerable margin. The engine performed flawlessly. Their 2nd 24 hour race they placed 4th, engine performed flawlessly again.
Here is the brief race report from rbanksracing for their 3rd race they just finished 2nd in.
"At the Talonator's last race at Palm Beach International Raceway, it struggled with some handling/suspension issues. It finished very well in 11th, but we knew the car could do much better. For the CMP race, we brought in the experts at Domination Chassis to help with the suspension. Domination Chassis is based here in Pittsburgh, PA, and they provided the expertise to diagnose the handling issues that challenged us at PBIR. When the Talonator rolled onto the track for its first practice session on Friday, we knew immediately that Domination Chassis gave us a setup to get the Talon back in the hunt for a top finish. CMP has many tight turns, hard braking zones, no banking, and tight quarters, all of which require the handling to be as crisp as possible. Jay Cooper and the guys at Domination got the Talon to handle with ease. It simply has never handled better! Check them out online at: www.dominationchassis.com. These guys flat know what they are doing and can help you with your mechanical or fabrication needs. I can't recommend them highly enough.
With its improved handling we moved into 2nd place in our first session and continued to run up front for the entire 2-day event. Team drivers Jeff Schupner, Jason Tower, and I never put a wheel wrong. In the morning session on Sunday, the throttle cable broke which threatened to ruin our race. The entire crew - all 5 of us including Glenn Smith and Sharon Bank, jumped into action and had the car back on track in record time. We only fell back to 10th place despite the time lost in the pits. We were keen to get those spots back, so we pushed the Talonator harder than ever. Thanks to drive train prep by David Buschur and Buschur Racing, www.buschurracing.com, there wasn't any doubt that the car could take the abuse. And that it did! In the sizzling 97 degree heat, the engine never missed a beat despite us asking more and more from it. During the frantic last few hours the car and engine couldn't possibly have been pushed any harder. I had an extended battle with a Mercedes S Class - yes, an S Class with the 365+ Horsepower V12 engine! After a 30-minute duel with the 5th-place running Talon and less than an hour to go in the race, the Mercedes V12 succumbed to the heat and conceded 4th place to the Talon.
It was another amazing run for the rbankracing.com team, with a 4th place finish in the final standings. At CMP, rbankracing.com now has four Top 5 finishes, including a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Another milestone is the Talonator's record of reliability -- 3 finishes in 3 races (1st, 4th and 11th) with the drive train powered by Buschur Racing. Our duel with the Mercedes V12 (white with blue, #11) can be seen on this video. We gave it all we had to keep it at bay, until it finally fell to the pressure:
