I am wondering how big cams affect base compression. I am running 272 kelford cams and i have been told that the overlap on the cams could cause a low compression reading. anyone run into this ? and what should the compression be.

You just need to verify that the compression is roughly the same from cylinder to cylinder
a good healthy engine with stock HG should be about 150 or more with those cams.

IMO those cams dont have enough overlap to really change anything over the stock cams. 10psi or less.
