Default 1966 Mustang Coupe w/ Fuel injected swap project

I figured i'd share some information about another project i've been working on. I picked a 1966 mustang coupe 289 for a really good price in North Carolina a while back. The stock 289 was is bad shape and needed a complete overhaul. Then one day i found a really good deal on craigslist for an an engine out of a 1986 mustang with wiring harness and ECU. So i made the drive to Medina Ohio and picked it up. I freshned up the bottom end with some new bearings and put it back together. I took the oil pan and oil sump off the 289 and put it on the 5.0 and dropped it in the mustang. THen the hard part came, wiring this thing up.. Well thanks to a lot of people doing this same swap i was able to find all the wiring info i needed and it wasn't that hard.

After some playing around i got it to start right up. Now i'm working on the body knocking off all the years of bondo (no idea why someone coated it so thick!!) and getting it into primer.

    Looking great!

I have a 65 Coupe that lives near the Buschur garage. Very cool that you are going with FI. Going to be a fast car, these things weigh next to nothing. Maybe be a good idea to hold onto the original 289.

Mine is a Toploader four-speed (hurst) with a rebuilt (higher compression) late 70s 302. Long tube headers. Just added Baer disc brakes and new wheels. I have piles of bondo in one of my quarters, my grandfather put it there.
