Default D16y8 - pulled threads on head bolt

Ok.. stupid beater needed a hg.. well its apart and now im putting it back together.. cake right?

FUCK! #10 rips the threads out of the stupid aluminum block.

Time sert seems to be a common fix for guys that have built or hard core motors...

this is a stock, 220,000 mile civic that starts, runs and thats it. Torque on the head studs is only 48 ft/lbs.

Trying to decide if a 3/4" long helicoil would hold the tq.

Im 99% sure it would. Just curious if anyone has any prior experience.

A helicoil WILL NOT hold the torque, timesert is the only fix for that. Ive done a few and even a couple of the bigsert's which are for when someone helicoils it and then rips the helicoil out.

I agree. I don't think a helicoil will hold...on a second note I have a clutch and aluminum flywheel for ya lol

coil held perfect. Actually had to do 3 of them in the end. Every single one from "perma-coil" held. They torqued down and felt stronger then the ones that were not done.
