It's not necessarily going to LCD that does this. Its going to a 240hz tv that does this. Your old tv was more than likely 60hz. The 240hz of new tv's and some of the 120hz tv's add's "blending" frames between frames of the actual moving causing the "ultra real" look some people love it, some people hate it.

I have a 46" 8000 series samsung and its excellent. Color reproduction and black levels are amazing while the contrasts are too. I dont see myself needing another TV this decade. Netflix in HD looks awesome as well so i would recommend that, too.

Sitting to close to the tv can give you that effect too.

    Are your signals High Definition?

Reason I ask is because if your watching TV with a SD signal, the HDTV will make it looks worse then if you were watching on a SD TV. Thats unless it has upconverting which most low grade TV's don't have.

If you buy a good TV make sure you have HD programming and that you get a good blu-ray player that has DVD progressive scan with upconverting it will make old DVD's look way better.

How true! I have a somewhat older Samsung HDTV LCD, and even only being 720 it's awesome watching HD channels. But when you watch a channel that isn't HD, it looks even worse then on the old standard definition tv's. Looking into a newer LCD, but can't really justify the money being ours is still pretty darn good!
