    Default STM Clutch Fork Stop

Guys can you explain the mechanics behind the subject piece?

I understand how it works, by not allowing the fork to over extend the throw out bearing thus popping the clip out but would you like to share some more info?

Getting for example an Exedy triple plate metallic and installing the fork stop, will it save the clip when doing 9000rpm No Lift Shifts?

How hard and how long has been tested?

    Thanks

One of these will be going in my car. Not sure if any more is actually needed to explain this. The Exedy from what I have read is susceptible to the clip popping off under high load / rpm quick shifts. STM used a fabricated piece to keep theirs on, just decided that others could benefit from the product as well.

STM looked to use it quiet extensively before they offered to make / sell them to those with multi disk pull clutches. It's cheap insurance. The other alternative is to have a car that needs to have the tranny dropped to fix the clip. Not cheap! My suggestion, get it and install it!

Most people thing the clip pops out when they push in the clutch real fast when it actually comes out when you let off of the clutch real fast. That is why, when it fails it still lets you into the gear you are headed for. When you let off the clutch fast the fork momentum pushes the clip in to the release position and with the high spinning of the clutch it pops out. ITs actually quite simple.

Thanks! Working with David is one of the best things we have done yet. Not only is it good for business but We got a good honest friend out of it as well. Not something you can easily find in this cut throat market anymore.
Its great to know that some people still do this for fun!

I will NEVER install a exedy clutch with out this. We popped one out drag racing on the dyno, the night before the east coast shootout. Thanks to STM that came down for the event and had some in hand. They even helped taking the tranny out. We where able to beat the hell outta the car the next day. Best insurance.

I just placed my order for this!!! Thanks to Bobby for recommending it and STM for making and testing it! (Now if I can just get David to put that 2.4 in my car! LOL) Thanks again Em. I look forward to receiving it and installing it, and the piece of mind that goes with it.

I'm workin on it Papi, looks like Tibo will beat me back, something about bus gunners not needed as long as MEDEVAC crewchiefs! LOL BTW is there a specific way to set the distance the bolt head should be or is it "preset" and just needs to be bolted on and go?

    Thank you for your purchase!

AS far as the set up goes on it, Leave between an 1/8 and 1/4 inch of space between the head of the bolt and the fork. You want to check it now and then (I suggest when you change your oil) To make sure it is not touching the fork. IF it hits the fork it will not allow it to engage all the way.

I'm confused. Someone told me that the head of the bolt should be resting on the fork, but not pressing into it??

well i would leave the 1/8 to 1/4" in-between it so it engages. Emery has tested the best position for it and thats what he found to get full engagement and all. Not to be a jerk but he did come up with the idea so I would listen to him.

If the head of the bolt touches the fork it will stop it from being fully engaged. Every time you slip your clutch the fork will move slowly toward the bolt head so keep an eye on it.
