In this case, the Mini Cooper S has dominated the G Stock class in SCCA for many years. The Genesis Coupe got thrown in that class this year and I did very well with the car including missing the trophies at Nats over two days by .032 seconds. .022 seconds the first day and I had a trophy spot until the guy who was beating me the first day came in .010 seconds ahead of me on his very last run and stole my thunder, hahaha. Very good racing! The Minis are getting bumped up a class due to their domination...they have actually been running times that are mostly equivalent to the cars winning in D Stock, the next class up. Many people think the Genesis is underclassed. It maybe as I was still running stock shocks and only had two events behind the wheel of the car on race rubber prior to Nationals. I have done very well at our regional events and even some of the National ones like Winged Warrior the past five years (50+ trophies) but never really ran any SCCA Solo National events so I am a bit of nobody in that scene. After leading the first day at the Eastern National Championship in Arkansas early in 2009 and then finishing 2nd in the event after the second day, it seemed to generate ALOT of attention towards the car since it almost dethroned the infamous class winner for so many years (there were a short paragraph in Grassroots Motorsports magazine about that near upset). It looks as though they thought my accomplishments were worthy of some recognition for which I am very grateful. I was a bit disappointed that no one else ran a Genesis Coupe though as I really didn't have anything to compare my driving to. Now the R-Spec is out and that will be the model to have for stock class. I have my sites set on more modified classes where the rules allow some REAL Buschur power! I am hoping that RobiSpec will be coming out with some suspension goodies so I can dail in the suspension to handle the additional ponies as well.
