    Dave,

I have been having a "discussion" on EVOM about timing and tuning on pump gas and I wanted your input. I have always felt that if you cant run the max timing to make max power on a type of gas at your boost level that the gas was not sufficient. I always ran full timing on pump but only to the point where I see knock and then above that I run better gas. Whats your thought on this?

    Thanks

What you are saying doesn't make any sense. Running "max timing to make max power" is what you do on every fuel but "max timing" changes for different types of fuels.

The weather finally cooperated a bit today (above 50) so I took my car out for the first time today after my red->black swap. I didn't mess with the tune and kept the boost down to about 25 psi since I wasn't going to attempt to do any tuning today (roads are still a bit slippery with sand/moisture), but I have to say that I noticed very little difference in normal driving. The turbo starts building boost immediately at lower RPM (below 3000), just like the Red, and while it may spool a little later, it's hardly noticeable. Like the Red, the Black takes off above 4000 rpm. Still plenty of usable power band for the street. I'm happy I made the change.

The FP Black looks like an awesome turbo - PERIOD. I'm having a 2.3L built by JMS Racing and I'm wondering how it would perform at 30PSI as I have no desire of running E85.
Proud supporter of MAPerformance. A healthy EVO8, an MAP EF3 Turbo, and a bunch of other "go fast" parts. Enough said.
