Default The Buschur Racing Genesis Coupe FMIC and Intercooler Piping Thread

As we continue on with the R&D of the "Deuce Coupe" here at the shop we are prototyping and finalizing additions to our product line. With all of our daily tasks at the shop and this being such a new platform the entire R&D and fabricating process is very time consuming when added in with all of our other daily tasks, but we are progressing and moving right along.

The first pictures that you are going to see are our prototype hot and cold intercooler pipe kits. The pipes will be mandrel bent 2 1/2" aluminum and will be available in polished, brushed or a powder coated finish. Each kit will include all couplings and clamps needed for installation.

Next is one of 2 front mount intercooler offerings that will be available from Buschur Racing. The Buschur Racing GC Standard FMIC upgrade requires only MINOR sanding of the inside of the front fascia. I have included pictures so you can see what will need to be done in order for this larger core to fit.

    Measurements: 24" wide x 8" tall x 3 1/2" thick

    Horsepower Rating: 675hp

    STREET KIT PRICE: $1099 SHIPPED

    Front fascia inside BEFORE sanding:

    Front fascia inside AFTER sanding:

Very minimal right? You cant tell its been touched especially from the front of the car.

We will have more on the other Buschur Racing FMIC offering later as the R&D and fitment wraps up with that. The Buschur Racing GC Race FMIC will come in at 24" wide x 12" tall and 3 1/2" thick while being rated to handle up to 1000hp. The price on this kit is also T B D. The Race core will REQUIRE removal or modification of your front crash bar.

The Race FMIC installed without the crash beam.

    STREET KIT PRICE: $1459 SHIPPED

Here is the comparison between the Buschur Racing Race FMIC upgrade, the Buschur Racing Standard FMIC upgrade and the tiny stock FMIC.

Each FMIC kit will utilize a Garrett intercooler core.

will the intercooler be sold jointly with the pipes? or can u sell just the pipes without fmic? reason i ask is because i have my own fmic in storage here i had planned on using for custom snailing my tib but decided i could better use it as an upgrade for the coupe (which is when i decided i will stop modding the tib to save for the coupe and do this, lol). dimensions are pretty similar but it's a tube and fin type fmic instead of bar and plate.

You'd be better off getting a complete kit from Buschur's. No use in wasting time with a T&F IC.

what makes a bar and plate style like this one in the BR kit better than a tube and fin? tbh i didnt even know there was any other style besides bar and plate until i picked up the t&f style one i have now from a friend of mine a while back. i just thought it looked nifty (noob mistake prob? =\)

    This should answer your question.

The tube and fin core design is the most economical to produce and therefore more affordable to consumers. The tube and fin intercooler is also relatively light in comparison to the bar and plate design (Like Kevin said), affording users a slight weight reduction. When the charge air enters the end tank, it travels through tubes in which the heat is transferred via fins where cooler ambient air passes over the tubes. This further removes heat from the air before exiting the opposite end tank en route to the engine. All in all, the tube and fin intercooler is perfect for the tuners building their first custom turbo systems on limited budgets. The disadvantages to the tube and fin intercooler is that its effective efficiency is lower when compared to a similar sized bar and plate intercooler.

Bar and plate intercooler cores function identically to the tube and fin core, with the exception that charge air travels through rectangular shaped passages that have more surface area, thus improving cooling of the air charge. The advantage to using this type of intercooler is that because the bar and plate core design affords up to 35% larger surface area for cooling, a physically smaller intercooler can be used and still retain the cooling characteristics (efficiency) of a larger tube and fin design. This is important for a builder who has a vehicle with a small opening in the front of it or where there are immovable obstructions present. There is a downside to this design, too, as it is generally more expensive due to the extent of fabrication that is involved in its construction. The bar and plate intercooler is also heavier due to the larger surface area and denser fin design. Simply put, it generally contains more material, thus the heavier weight.

Im sure we can sell the pipes separate if you really want to use the core you have.

Garrett cores are second to none. That is what we use in all of our kits.

I had some inquiries of "reference" type of "comparrison" pics of the FMIC's compared to some items so this morning I took the time to snap a few more pics.

Compared to a 16oz ROCKSTAR Energy can. Its a subliminal message to not drink coffee anymore and to drink nothing but ROCKSTAR.

Here is also another with a shot compared to a pack of Marlboro's since there is a guy here who does smoke. Buschur Racing does not condone smoking, drinking or use of any other types of narcotics. Tobacco, alcohol and/or drugs can cause serious health issues. Use at your own risk.

As for boost and high horsepower... Yes we're addicted and we "use" those daily.

Shame most of it will be hidden once you put the bumper on. They need a more open front bumper .
