I cant decide if id want a twin turbo'd v6, or just a turbo'd 4... but i def like it.
I thought I'd start a thread on this car. I spent some time on the net today searching for more info and pics. Here's some info:
http://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicle/av...sis_Coupe.aspx
I think this is the best info on the specs and what the designer/execs have said about the car.
RWD, front engine
V6 "300+ hp"
I4 "200+ hp" turbo intercooled
6 speed manual for both engines (6spd auto for 6 and 5spd auto or 4)
Brembo 13.4" twin piston front, 13.0" twin piston rear brakes (not sure if that's only for v6 or both models)
5 link independent rear suspension
mcpherson strut dual link front suspenion
111" wb
183" l
not sure on the weight. browsing around a couple of hyundai forums, it sounds like speculation is around 3400-3600 lbs in base trim (I4 T).
I also read on Hyundai's site that Hyundai execs are attending drift events amongst other performance and racing events. They made mention of a tuneable version (not sure if tuned from H, or stripped down for a clean slate version for tuners to modify??).
I think if they can keep the weight down (more in the 3000-3200lbs for I4)and keep the price below $25k for the turbo version, the aftermarket will do the rest and they'll have a successful performance coupe on their hands. Then, hopefully, others will follow suit. The technology is abundant to have killer FR turbo 4 cars tearing up all forms of racing (drift, drag, time attack/road racing).

Let's see your comments on the look and specs, etc.

Did you mean the Hyundai as a twin turbo? It looks like just a naturally aspirated V6, 3.5L, a tuned version of what they currently have which makes like 240hp or so...not sure exactly.Originally Posted by Rogue
I'd prefer the turbo 4, more tunability (compared to na v6), lighter weight in the nose, more room to "work" on the engine bay and similar aftermarket parts to the other 4b11t (which I haven't heard that to be the actual the engine they'll use, but jarrod mentioned it, so he may have seen Hyundai release that somewhere, I don't know.)
How about a Buschur Stage 4 (400 fly HP...?) Hyundai Coupe for less than a total cost of $30k (car + BR Stg4)!? Yesss!

the car looks like a cross between an infiniti g series and a tiburon. non the less, the styling is very nice, and the added feature of a fr i4t would top it off. :spinning wheels:
old topic revival... because i saw it on a superbowl commercial...
I can't seem to find a listing of what the base engine is in these things, if it is the turbo'd 4 or what. plus all of the photos I see are not of a coupe... they are of a sedan.... whats going on here?
for sale: 99 eclipse spyder gst, with all of its problems
auto->man swap; lsd; slowboy ss clutch line; massive greddy fmic (to cool my t25); 1 strut tower bar; Perrin o2 eliminator; 2.5" exhaust- muffler but catless; fp sleeper 16g; ported o2 housing; Lowe's bc; ported exhaust mani, [built 6 bolt swap, wiseco, crower rod, bc i/e272's, ported 1g head]
Also saw the commercial, and couldnt help the 375hp figure catching my attention. Also, the car is quite sexy, and very luxurious looking!

I thought the 375hp was for the big luxo-yacht.
Not sure what they are up to now but in the past Hyundai has been a bit bold with their HP numbers. If I recall they actually got a slap on the wrist for it at one point.

The 375hp # is projected at the V8 4door. I have done SUBSTANTIAL research on this car to find information on it.
And as for the price on the 4 cyl.... they said it will be priced at $19,900. I mentioned that in another thread.

Correct Jrod, it is for the 4 door luxury model. It is awesome it comes with a V8, and looks very nice.
So, the 4 cylinder is turbo? Kick ass also!

The Genesis is coming out this year, the 4 door with V8. The "real" car comes next year in Coupe form with a 310-320hp V6 or 2xxhp Turbo 4 (4b11t?). Check Hyundai's site for info.Originally Posted by jake

ps Too bad the Ralliart has the lame-o SST trans.![]()

No one cares about the 4door turd.
The coupe's PRODUCTION model is set to be shown for the first time to the public in April at the New York auto show.
The coupe is then slated for release in late '08/early '09.
Ive done extensive research in finding stuff out about this car and still do research on this it ALL the time.
As soon as pre-sales are being taken im going to put a deposit down and order my car.

I was looking on insideline.com for pics of the Concept Coupe again. I noticed these pics of the "2010 Tiburon" and you'll notice this was back in Sept '07, but looking at the engine pics, you can see they have the engine sitting in a car the "right way", longitudinally!ha ha Love it! I don't care what they call the car, Tiburon is cool I guess. Its the fact that its Right Wheel drive and turbo 4 for $20k, something I can afford. I hate that the Ralliart only has the crap SST trans, it just made my decision that much easier to score this "other H ride". Can't wait.
Jarrod, you need to get Dave on board with this car and coming out with some BR stages. The tuning should be very similar to the Mitsu 4b11t in the Ralliart. We'll see.

Jarrod, Any sites or sources of info for more up to date goodies? I've checked out most of the google search results. Looks like most sites are just quoting what the Hyundai Design guy said on Hyundai's site, which by teh way doesn't have the Coupe Concept page anymore.![]()
Good to hear Dave is all straightened out for mods on this car.I don't care if it snows in Utah. When I had my '94 Mustang GT 5 speed with about 250hp (h pipe, catback, intake/ram-air) I almost got stuck on a flat road.
lol. There's only half a dozen bad snow days in Utah anyway...so no worries with a rear wheel drive. Plus, the less torque from the 4 cylinder shouldn't be too bad for snow.

I dont remember all the sites. Its really just a matter of looking around. I have spent hours researching the thing to find out every bit possible.

Here's a new update on insideline.com and snow testing in undercover mode:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...leId=124891#12
Looks like it may debut at the NY Show in March. We'll see! Now they're saying it may have the same V6 as the Genesis Sedan which currently has 290hp, not bad, but not quite the 310-320 they claimed months ago. I say who cares, show me the turbo4.

Thanks for sharing Chris!
That last pic is the one with the turbo 4 engine in it. I have an upclose pic of the engine. I'll have to post it later. Its on my laptop.
Yeah I could careless about the V6. If it doesnt come with the turbo 4 im passing and buying my '08 Tahoe and blacking it all out like I want right now with some nice black 24's and a 4" drop. If this car wasnt coming I would already have my Tahoe.

Do you think the turbo 4 will be the same as the Ralliart Lancer?
