I shot an email to Sperry,asking them if the Top-Siders shoes I've worn since I was 5 are made in America. If they aren't I suppose I'll find another deck type shoe that is.

I noticed the other day that Carhartt has a line of American made items.

I have absolutely nothing against someone coming to this country, legally, becoming a citizen and getting a job. As a matter of fact, I wish more people would do that.

About the deck shoes. You know, I've been faithful and worn Levi Jeans most of my life. I like them, fit good, wear good etc. I have my last pairs though in my closet now. I've told my wife don't buy me anymore. I'm sticking with the Texas Jeans.

First of all, I work on Mitsubishi's for a living. Company is based out of Japan. When I started though, the DSM's that I grew to love were built in Normal, IL and were about 65% US content. I don't care to be honest anyway.

IF-IF one of these bone head US automobile manufacturers would build an AWD turbo 4 cylinder car I'd be all over it. Instead we get FWD crap.

I buy USA products when I can but I don't honestly look for a "Made in the USA" label all the time.

However, last week I was watching a program on TV about China. That country needs to be stopped. I don't mind that they are growing, I don't care what they are doing to be honest. This particular TV show was on the horrible impact they are having on the environment though. There is NO regulations there for any type of pollution, the air in Los Angelas is bad, I've seen it on the news, looks like fog. The air in China was actually almost BROWN. They have this new damn, the 3 gorge hydro electric plant. It is huge. Extremeley polluted and some scientists feel it is so large it could actually tilt to the earth on it's axis. This pollution of course does not just stay in in and over their own country, it is going to effect everyone and they don't care.

Today I went Christmas shopping. I put the first gift in my cart, at Walmart, and noticed it was Made in China on it. I then looked around to find the same thing Made in the USA. I found it and put the first one back. I then went on a mission to buy all my Christmas presents Made in the USA. Some things are impossible to find.

Now, don't call me a two faced. I make my living working on Japanese cars and my EVO is my favorite car. I have put 2 times the initial cost of the car back into it though and 90% of that was Made in the USA

I guess my point is this. If we all take a little time to look for that "Made in the USA" label we'd have more jobs here and that effects everyone of us. If we can't what you want made here in the USA then you have to do what you have to do.

From now on though, personally, I am going to make an effort to buy as much as I can "Made in the USA".

I am going now to finish my Christmas shopping, online, somebody in the USA makes the other things I need and I am going to do some searching to try to find them. A little more effort but maybe someone will keep their job because of it. Maybe the plant that makes what I need here in the USA puts out an acceptable amount of pollution too.........

Have you heard of President Elect Obama's choice for labor secretary who gave her acceptance speach in Enlgish and Spanish ? Not that I am against spanish speaking people - not at all - I love them.

My point is that regadless of your nationality - I am half German and Scottish - entry here in the United States is supposed to be limited to those who pass with permission and with a legal right to be present.

Otherwise, basically it becomes a free for all with anyone able to come here who can sneak past the boarders.

Until and unless the all nations adopt a boarderless free access to the entire world then I think the laws of the United States should be enforced with respect to illegal entrants.

Things are bad enough here financially, what ever jobs we have here should be manned by American Citizens - many of whom are out of work at this time.

I LOVE the Winged Warrior Event, definetely one of my favorite events of all time. You guys do a great job and it is for a great cause.

Now back to the Made in the USA part.

It is becoming harder and harder to find products made in the USA. We are gearing up to make some all new clothes/hats etc. for the shop. The shop doing the work, which is local to us, cannot locate Flex Fit hats made in the USA at all. The only hats available are the ones with the plastic-snap-adjustable band on the back.

It's no wonder this economy is in such poor shape. For those of you that would like to blame President Bush (who I voted for twice) for the economy and high unemployment rates, consider this. Consider all the companies that have closed their doors only to move to China and Mexico. Consider all the companies that have outsourced their engineering to foreign countries and parts that use to be built here to foreign suppliers. I don't know of President Bush calling one single company and telling them to close up, give everyone the boot and move their jobs elsewhere. These greedy bastards have done it for no reason other than the bottom line, which is more money in their pocket.

I am not selling out.

Do yourself, your neighbors and this country a favor. When you shop by something Made in the USA!

It seems that things are only going to get worse with President Obama in the trade area.

When it comes to my car i try to buy parts that are either non replica or Made in the U.S.A . I dont mind parts from Japan since they make quality stuff , but ever since i bought Buschur Parts for my car i have tried to match parts that are made in the U.S . It feels good knowing your money stays in the U.S and supports small companies .
