About a month ago I upgraded my 94 Talon from the "old" BR race core, 2-216 to the new 4" BR core, wow, way faster boost repsonse and nearly eliminated all knock on pump gas and the car is being pushed very hard on pump, New core is the best upgrade ive done in a long time.

I noticed that one example I posted and the additional lag. I posted it anyway because that how I operate, post the truth and be done with it.

I do not feel that is typical and have other logs of cars with the same race FMIC's on it and same turbo that have much faster boost response. Looking at it now I wonder if there was a leak............

Steffen, the way you tapped the dumptube back in looks excellent, it's hard to see what kind of angle is under the wrap but if it's how it appears it is excellent.

ETS, when you do your testing make sure you are monitoring before and after turbine housing back pressure, we've already done it, you'll be surprised what you learn............there I go opening my big mouth again

Very intersting!! I was only able to run about 20 psi on 94 octane with my FP Green....Maybe this would help.......

    Default Ebay/Perrin/BR/AMS/Keford272...........

We have a customer that was in last on 9-16-2009 for some dyno tuning. He brought in a car he had bought and was tuned elsewhere. I re-tuned the car with the combination that was on it, pump gas with a Snow Alky injection kit, the car had stock camshafts in it at the time. Important things to know about the car at that time:

    Built 2 liter, builder unknown
    Stock head
    Stock cams
    AMS GT35r kit
    Ebay FMIC
    Single Walbro pump
    PTE 1000cc injectors
    3" turbo back

I tuned the car at 29.96 psi of boost with the alky turned on. The max power was 435 with 368 ft lbs. After tuning the car as usual, I told him what I thought and what he could do to improve the car. I suggested our cams and our FMIC as two large power adders.

With the Ebay FMIC on a 4th gear pull the AIT's were:
    Starting at 2800 rpm-95 degrees F
    Ending at 7700 rpm-134.6 degrees F.
    A 39 degree increase.

Obviously this is not good for making power.

Today the car came back. The car has had some changes that I learned along the way as I was tuning it. Here are the changes:

    Perrin FMIC
    BR Stage 3 cylinder head
    Kelford 272 cams
Alcohol kit no longer in use

After a few pulls I noticed the AIT's were getting climbing. That's when I asked what it was and he told me a Perrin FMIC. Then as the conversation went on he told me I suggested he changed his Ebay one last time he was there. I asked why he didn't get our Race FMIC, he said he got a good deal on the Perrin and didn't want to wait on ours..........
The conversation went on to the cams, again asked why ours didn't get put in.............

The only thing that was done as I suggested was to remove the alky kit.

I told him that in 3rd gear the AIT's were climbing quite a bit but we'd wait and see on a 4th gear pull what they did before determining if he should still be looking for another FMIC. After the initial tuning was done in 3rd gear I made the 4th gear pull.

Starting RPM 2805 with an AIT of 75.2 degrees
Ending RPM 8133 with an AIT of 122 degrees.
    A 47 degree increase.

This is no better than before, actually worse and I'm surprised as I THOUGHT in the past when I had seen a Perrin on a few cars they worked well.

The power on the other hand with the head/cam swap even without the alky kit went up to 500 whp and 389 ft lbs. There were some decent losses down low but over about 6000 rpm the car gained a lot of power.

If any of you have had me tune your car with the AEM on the Perrin FMIC please shoot me a PM, I'd like to go back and check the logs as I feel something has changed, maybe they aren't using the same core they use to, I don't know. Mechanically this car was great, power was great, just the AIT's were through the roof and it is nice and cool here today.
