    Default Race 4 A Wish............

    Hi guys,

We are getting in on a great race coming up this year. It's for charity and we are sponsoring the event.

Here's a link to the information about it: http://www.race4awish.com/

The first day of the race, Wednesday, May 30th 2007 will be at Thompson Raceway in Ohio.

The second day will be Thursday, May 31st, 2007 for a road course at Beaver Run in PA.

The third day will be Friday, June, 1st, 2007 for an autocross at Beaver Run in PA.

Awards will be given for each event and an overall winner, awards will be held after the autocross on Friday at Beaver Run.

The entry fee for all three days is $350. All the money raised will go directly to the Make a wish foundation. You can learn more about the foundation and event by clicking the link I posted.

For our customers, if you wish to attend this event contact me and we will print a form for you to use to receive $100 off the 3 day entry fee. This means you can have a day at the drag strip, road course and autocross for only $250, that's a great deal.

Send me a PM if you are interested. You will be able to register online a week or so.

    Thank you.

Sounds like a Great time! I'm in. Unless I *ahem* break down before that. where are the rules at? Are they letting anyone on the road course? Are we supposed to email them about more specific questions?

This just goes to show once again how much Buschur Racing cares about their customers. How many other companies are paying for a big chunk of their customers entry fee to ANY event. This is another reason I will always be a loyal Buschur Racing customer. I wish I just lived closer.

Just got a call that the event is changing the pricing structure.

Anyone interested in just the Friday Drag race at Thompson Raceway it is $50 for the entire day. Make as many runs as you want.

If you want to do the Beaver Run autocross by itself that is $50.

The road course by itself is $250.

Remember, you can run the entire 3 day event for $250 if you contact us as a customer so we can put your name in.

I'd like to go drag race, but do they enforce the dress code. Fire suit? ect.
I read the rules a while back, and it seemed like i had some rules to follow? I'll recheck.

    As per rules:

The vehicle must be driven, not trailered, to the events and run on the same DOT tires for all three events. The same driver must run all three events, unless special circumstances (family emergencies) prohibit this.

All competitors in autocrosses or drag races must wear a current (2000 or later) SA (special application) Snell approved crash helmet and a single-layer or better fire-proof driver’s suit. Motorcycle approved helmets are specifically banned. One driver on track--no passengers will be on board during time trials.

Required equipment includes: a minimum 3-pound size 1BC dry chemical fire extinguisher, first-aid kit, four highway flares or three DOT emergency triangles must be carried.

Now Dave.... Do i need all this. I have a helmet. Can get an extinguisher.

Are you going to drive your RS? Just curious.

I am going to go out on a limb and say if you have a long sleeve cotton Tshirt and a helmet they will let you run.

No, I am not taking the RS. I am taking the Subaru.

A whole bunch of you sure missed out on a great event.

Yesterday at Thompson the track was in great shape and there were only a few cars there. Ou could run and never stop, just make a pass and come back around and make another. There were only two Sport Compacts there so it was my Eclipse and Matt's 4g63 powered Colt.

The Colt of Matt's ran a 12.8 at 120 mph. 4g63 turbo power and a light car, great combination. Nice car too, not a hunk of crap that is thrown together, really nice job done on it.

My Eclipse ran a 14.70 at 94 mph.

Round ONE, drag racing, winner Matt, looser me.

Today we were at Beaver Run for some Road Course action. Since Matt and I were the only two to compete in the drag we are the only two that can be timed and have all three event count for the "win".

Once again the lightweight car with tons of power was fast. It didn't hurt matters that I found out Matt has run quite a bit at Beaver Run. Until today I have never been around the track and have only road raced twice, including today, in my life....

So today, Road Course win goes to Matt gain. He ran a 1:12.67 for a best lap to my 1:14.47 best lap.

I made a huge mistake with the Eclipse. I took the Toyo T1R tires off as they were very worn and replaced them with Potenza's, the Potenza is not nearly the tire the Toyo was. I have them rolling over well onto the side wall, car is very unstable on these tires, no grip. I hate the tire, would not recommend them for any track use.

This is an event for charity, so I shouldn't get so caught up in times and winning but................

Congrats to Matt and his Colt, so far it's 2 to 1.

I have a shot at the autocross but honestly expect a 2nd place finish tomorrow too. That little Colt should scoot through the autocross course.

The upside to all this is with my 3 days at MidOhio and a full day here today, I have never been off the track, spun, hit anything or had any mishaps. Either I'm not pushing hard enough or I'm just that good haha

    I'll report back tomorrow.

Total cars that competed was fairly low. It made for the most track time that anyone at this event has ever had on any one single day. The good news is I think Al Noe, the organizer of the event, is happy enough that he is going to give it a shot next year. Maybe make it a Friday/Saturday and do the open track and autocross only.

The event was for a great cause, I was glad we sponsored it. Hopefully the word will spread and we can raise more money and get more people to come out next year.

So the report for the 3rd and final day which was autocrossing.

The course was set up for some fast speeds. I would say 80 mph+ was hit by a few cars and I had to be close myself on one long left hand sweeper. Then there was some hard near 180 degree turns. I have personally only autocrossed one time, I made 3 laps around a very short course they had set up at Mid Ohio, you could sign up and try it. I liked it then and thought for my experience I did pretty good.

So my first lap around this course was 47-48 second time. Some of the other cars were slower, so I was happy.

The organizer of the autocross was Eric, autocrosses 4 times a month, every weekend. Has a well set up Z06 Corvette, he ran 1:07 on the road course with it.

He asked me to take a ride with him, the car sticks like glue. He clicked off a 42 second run. I asked him to take my Eclipse around the course a few times to see what he could run in it, give me something to shoot for.

First run was a 45.8, we came in and he said the car pushed horribly (which I was well aware of and to put more air in the front. So I added some air and he tried it again. Next run was a 45.01, he said he felt the car was at its mechanical limits as the tires SUCK and even with 50 psi of air in them they would roll the side walls almost to the rim. He said, "If you were to put 5 good drivers in the car they are all going to run about that same time as the car just has nothing left."

Good news to me was I had something to try for. You could make a run and get right back in line, hardly any wait when you did wait, most of the time you just kept going around and around.

Great chance for me to learn. I beat the car, run after run. I kept gradually getting faster and faster until the point where I was stuck at 45.4, it stayed the same run after run. I was pretty happy with that but would have liked to find that other .39 to get closer to Eric's time.

The Eclipse is actually a great car. Needs some camber in the front and a set of tires on it and the times would drop drastically.

Also, Matt was back with the Colt. At the beginning of the day I was pretty happy as it looked like just maybe I could beat him on the autocross course, well he took care of that by running a 44! I got beat 3 out of 3 events. Very nice hanging out with you Matt, great job at the event and you should be proud of your driving and car. The car is exceptionally done, the cleanest job I have seen anyone do on a Colt 4g63 swap. Hell, I'd like to have it.

Also, Robert Fuller was at our shop this week...........trying to get both his cars fixed and ready for a Time Attack in Canada. Only his "slower" red EVO got done as his fast car was missing too many parts to complete. Anyway, the finished the Red car late Thursday, AEM, cams, Green turbo. The car needed tuned and I wasn't at the shop, so he drove over to Beaver Run so I could put some sort of tune in it.

I dropped the map in it from Eric's car, adjusted it for the injector difference and Robert signed up for the autocross course. First run the car was way to rich. He came in, I made an adjustment and he went back out. Robert kept missing the course. Come to find out he had NEVER autocrossed before, told me "Cones are the enemy". I kept working on the tune and the car sounded freaking great, he worked on the alignment a little. Ends up he can autocross and ran a 39.8 second time.

Eric wasn't too happy about that and took the Vette back out and a Subaru on slicks. He was able to run in the 40's with both those cars but not quite enough to take out Robert's EVO. Robert ended up winning the Autocross overall and took a plaque to Canada on his way to the Time Attack.

I asked Robert to make some runs in the Eclipse, his best time in my car was a 45.8

I had a great time at the event and it was nice having Renee (my wife) there, just the two of us. That may have been better than the racing but it's a close comparison. haha

Thanks for the help David and the compliments, I would have been on a wild goose chase after my fuel gauge blew out. It was a great time and next year should be just as fun. I have never had SO much available track time EVER!! To those who wanted to come you missed a great event. Also Big thanks to Al Noe and Brian Nutter
