I have too many runs of Curt's car here and can't figure out which one was the HTA Green. I do have his Red here and I know the Green makes less power peak and more low end. This turbo matches/beats the Red as far as I am concerned.

Default HTA3076 at 39 psi, bad ass!

Robert at Forced Performance wanted me to try this HTA3076 at 40 psi of boost before I removed it from my RS. I told him no problem, when I got a chance. Well this morning I had a few minutes between dyno tunes and we threw the car on the dyno. I guessed at the boost controller, but since it is a BR controller my guess was on the money The car hit a peak boost of 39.8 psi, I spent no additional time dialing in timing or AFR's, the car is a bit rich up top gets down to about 11.5:1, not horrible and not hurting power but the point is I spent no time optimizing the tune.

Anyway, I will let this graph speak for itself:

That my friends is BAD ASS! The un-smoothed numbers came up 609 whp and 610 ft lbs of torque! This is the first car I know of that has broken 600 ft lbs on this dyno. This is the basic power/torque I was looking for when I built my RS this last time and why the 2.3RPM engine lives today, for this purpose 600+ ft lbs of torque.

Unbelievable. This IS the turbo for an EVO. I will have a hard time recommending a Green/Red or anything else to most EVO owners after doing the testing on this turbo this week.

Wow that is sick! I have one of the highest HP HTAGreens I have seen. Here is an overlay of the HTA3076 compared to the HTAGreen on my car. Big difference is you have a 2.3L vs my 2.0L.

Slorice, you sure are good at that! The 3076 stomps that green and yes, yours was one of the highest!

Below is the HTA3586 at 33 psi vs. the HTA3076 at 39.8 psi

Is this in the T3 or bolton housing?

I'm thinking T3 since this is a evo and not a DSM. (sorry I'm a DSMer)

Sorry I'm a moron, i saw the updated thread yesterday here at work. (where they block everything. :O(

And i checked the thread this am in a hurry, sorry for the dumb question.

FYI, and you might know this but the only other person I know that has got close to 600whp on a 3076 was worked on by Jack of Jack's transmission on a 2.4 DSM. I think it made 599.

Nice work, I honestly think that turbo on a 2.3 is the best street setup out there.

Making 600 whp on our dyno is a greater accomplishment than making it on most others, this dyno reads low. On a Dynojet I'd guess this would be close to 680/680.

crap! i know you tested the hta3076 a while back but didnt think things could change like this after testing it again. what would you recommend in my case, 2.3, ported head, all bolt ons (have all mods needed) and mainly run on 91oct but going to have an e85 map for times i have access to it. right now i thought the ball bearing black was the best answer, but now im reconsidering that. how would spool/power differ between the black and hta3076? appreciate the help.

I would not suggest a Black over the HTA3076, no way.

Feel better just being reminded about that fact. Cant wait till I visit your dyno again.

This one is nuts. This is basically a Stage 2.5 EVO9. So stock engine/head/cams/turbo/intake/throttle body all stock.

The car came here with our turbo back, our upper i/c pipe, AMS FMIC, AMS MBC, AMS MAF pipe with a K&N open filter on the MAF, stock EVO9 BOV. The car made mid 340 whp on 100 octane at 26.5 psi of boost.

The customer is looking for 370 whp. I felt it was possible with the addition of our 02 housing and a better BOV. So we added our 02 housing and the Synapse BOV. Put it back on the dyno and power was 350 whp/334 ft lbs. I tried turning the boost up and it just didn't want to make any more boost. I then swapped to our MBC as the AMS brass thingy was all the way tight. Our MBC made no more boost either. Very odd.

I stood and stared at the engine for a few minutes wondering what was going on. Then I noticed the K&N was rather beat up, dirty and looked small. I figured "What the hell, something is holding it back." I went and got our filter and was going just swap it in place but it wouldn't fit. Our filter was substantially larger than the K&N and wouldn't fit because of the ACD. I pulled the MAF pipe off and replaced it with our single bend MAF and then put our filter on. Jumped back in the car and with ABSOLUTELY no other changes the above dyno graph was produced. As you can see it went WAY lean and the boost went up. I fixed the fuel map, added some fuel and ended up at the same whp/torque level as above with the AFR's in the 11.8:1 range.

This is just incredible to me and goes to show how important the "little stuff" truly is.

We are talking a 16 whp and 19 ft lbs increase in power just from changing the MAF and filter!
