Default Clutch pedal harder to push than normal.

Just drove another guy's 2G and his clutch pedal was softer than mine, in fact i thik my pedal was softer too when i got the car, 2 years back or three.

    What could be causing this?
Time to replace the clutch line fluid?
I tried to spray a little bit of oil in the clutch pump (the thing attached in the firewall that you move when pushing the pedal), and it didn't help much.

    What can it be?

Maybe friction on the ball and socket of the clutch fork. A stiffer pressure plate would do that.

    The clutch is 100% stock.
The clutch fluid is 8 years old

Changing the fluid won't hurt a bit. I would if it is that old. But I don't think it will make the pedal any softer.

yikes, set aside some money for that dude, otherwise you'll be ass out when thay thing fries withing 5 miles on your new setup. My friend had a stock clutch in his 2g with a 20g and one day he cranked to boost from 15 to 20 and the clutch was toast by the time he got back from testing it out.

But about the clutch softness, is there any part i should grease or oil?

Nothing you can do while the trans is still in the car.

Toss in a braided stainless clutch line while you're changing the clutch fluid. They're like $20, I got mine from BR.

bad fluid will make the pedal softer. If its not been changed, I would get a friend to help and then go ahead. You might want to change the brake fluid while you are at it.

Changed the clutch fluid today and the pedal works better.
It really needed a fluid replacement.
